This is a picture of a mango shake. It includes mango blended with ice cream, milk, and ice. The red in the middle of the beverage is small amount of another fruit which can be customized to your liking. This beverage specifically was bought but the ingredients are very simple that you can easily make it in your household.
I fell in love with mango shake last year when it was introduced to me by a close friend of mine. Ever since then it became a tradition for us to drink it together.
Before researching this drink, i didn’t realize how healthy mango’s were. Mango fruit is an excellent source of Vitamin-A,and very rich source of Potassium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure. There a best served at a cool temperature.
Mmmm, when i have time to make breakfast in the morning, pancakes would definetly be my first choice! This is a picture of pancakes with syrup & butter.Every summer I remember waking up to the smell of pancakes and it just made my whole day. I still feel that summer feeling everytime I take a bite. Pancakes seem to be very popular when it comes to holding events and records. In 2005, Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli set the world record for the highest pancake toss at 329cm Also, In 1986 was hold an event called World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast. It was revived for the 350th anniversary of Massachusetts. This breakfast has been held every year since then and hundreds of volunteers help during this event. An amazing number of 71,233 serving of pancakes were served to more than 40 thousand people in 1999.
This dish is pasta with tomato sauce and cilantro.
Culturally, this dish is eaten often and a good meal to enjoy with the family. To put pasta and sauce and some vegetables not only makes it much more tastier but it adds the nutritional value to it. I grew up to eating pasta as a family meal and therefore is apart of my top ten favorite foods.
After taking this course, i realized that this meal contain 3 different food groups: grain products, meat & alternatives, and fruits and vegetables. This makes this dish much more healthier than i thought it was. Also, This food is very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. The sauce can be made into a variety of ways, with many different toppings.
Cake is one my favorite desserts of all time. Just call me sweet tooth because I can eat it all the cake in the world. This picture is chocolate cake with frost & ice cream.
Even though I love to eat cake, I know that its unhealthy and only eat it on special occasions such as parties,weddings and bridal showers. Who doesn’t love cake? Ever since i can remember i have loved eating cake. Chocolate cake with vanilla is by far my favorite combination.
Chocolate cake with ice cream is part of 2 different food groups: milk & alternatives and grain products. But this meal isn’t all that unhealthy. For just one-half cup of regular vanilla ice cream expect around 260 calories, 15 grams of fat, 5 grams of protein and 25 grams of carbohydrate and 55 milligrams of cholesterol.
This is a picture of poutine, which is a combination of fries, gravy, and cheese. I recognize that it isnt really a healthy choice but I still eat it sometimes.
Poutine gravy is very sweet and tasty ,putting some cheese just makes it amazing. I usually eat it at lunch or an after school snack before dinner. I really disliked poutine while growing up, so again there really isn’t a emotional attachment to it.
Clearly the combination of these three ingredients create a unhealthy meal, but some of these ingredients itself have nutritional value. For example, the nutritive value of cheese is much the same as that of milk from which it is made and the minerals and vitamins are present. Poutine contains grain products, milk & alternatives, and fat & oils, which is 3 out of 6 in Canada’s food guide.

Chicken nuggets has been an chicken source that I’ve enjoyed growing up as a kid. Eating them with some fries on the side would be my meal. I usually eat it with any dipping sauce that is available at the moment and enjoy the moment. Even though they arent as tastier, i really enjoy cooking these at home, which is probably why its one of my favorite.
Chicken is part of the meat & alternative food group. While studying this project i learned about the creation of chicken nugget. The creator of the nugget, Robert C. Baker, created many poultry products, including chicken nuggets, chicken bologna and chicken hot dogs. He processed and binded chicken into various shapes and named them nuggets.
this is a picture of popcorn, one of my favorite snacks. They are crunchy and sweet.
Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks to eat while watching movies. Butter flavored is usually the way to go but the more healthier was is plain. I usually cook it on the stove not microwave to avoid unnecessary oil that is added in the bags. Like most people, popcorn is my number one choice when choosing a snack to watch something.
While reasearching about popcorn, i learned these fun facts:

I’ve been eating chocolate chip cookies my whole life as long as I remember my mother would give them to me as treats. Other than that there’s not a personal relationship other than munching on them with some milk. Cookies have just been a snack I’ve always eaten.
while researching this project, i learned a very unusual fact. This delicious snack the world loves so much was actually an accident! Accoring to http://www.socialstudiesforkids.com, this was the story behind it:
One evening in 1937, she was making butter cookies and thought she would make them all chocolate instead. She cut a bar of chocolate into tiny pieces and added them to the cookie dough. She thought that the chocolate would melt completely and she would have chocolate cookies. When the cookies came out of the oven, the chocolate hadn’t melted at all! Instead, the “chocolate chips” had kept their form.
The guests loved the cookies, and people began to come to the inn just to eat the famous cookies.
Nestle tried to make it easy for people to make these cookies. They even included a small chopper in the package. Finally, in 1939, the Chocolate Morsels that we know today were introduced.

I first starting eating this meal in Dubai. We were on vacation and my mother didn’t want to cook so my brother and I resorted to this dish. I don’t eat it as much as I use to but it’s still one of my top ten favorite foods, mainly because of the memories it contains.
There are a lot interesting facts about this simple dish that I came across and found surprising.
1. Macaroni and cheese is the number one cheese recipe in the United States.
2. In any given twelve-week period, approximately one-third of the population of the United States will eat macaroni and cheese at least once. About half of all children in the United States will eat macaroni and cheese during this time period.
3. Macaroni and cheese has remained on the list America’s top ten comfort foods for decades.
